Do you feel like you are trapped in a hamster wheel of work and you don’t know how to get off? Do you ever wake up and feel ‘stuck’ in a career that you no longer love? Or do you love your job, but worry that your workaholic tendencies might not be healthy? Or feel that your work is your identity, and that’s probably not sustainable in the long term. If any of this sounds familiar, then this newsletter is for you
My name is Lisa Quinn and in 2017, I upped sticks, left a well-paid job in the glamorous world of magazine media and started all over again as an Executive Coach. I’ve being coaching for eight years now. In that time, I’ve worked with hundreds of clients, spent (literally) thousands of hours helping those who feel lost at work to feel found all over again. I’ve also helped many individuals re-connect to who they are at their best - and get better at what they do. I hope to do the same for you here.
We all want different things, because we are all unique individuals. For some of you it might not be a big, dramatic change. And that’s fine. Some people want to know how to avoid burnout, or feel more confident about their leadership style. Or figure out what their leadership style is in the first place! Others want to figure out what their long term career goal is, or how to stop people pleasing, or to simply have better conversations at work. My aim is that this Substack becomes a community - and I write about and cover the things that resonate with you.
So how is this going to work? Well, every week, I will write something with one aim - that what you read from me is helpful. Sometimes it will be about an issue that I’m struggling with and I’ll share some suggestions for how I have navigated it. Other times, it will be about something that I’m seeing my clients struggle with. I’ll then offer a few thoughts to help you gain a new perspective or a new insight. My work is confidential, so I won’t share anything that would allow a client to be identified, but it will be a real life/real work situation. I’ll also share tools and techniques and insights. I’m a mindfulness teacher, so there might be a sprinkling of that too. Everything is an offer - an invitation. I work on the basis that you are the expert on yourself, so if something doesn’t feel right, or doesn’t resonate - ignore it.
Often my clients are running from meeting to meeting, and our sessions are the only time they have to think. I’m hoping this newsletter can be a space for YOU to think.
Before I retrained as a coach, I had a 22 year career in PR and Communications. I’ve sat on boards and reported to CEOs. I’ve been to business school and did a three year stint as a headhunter. Sometimes, if there is a piece of advice, that I think would be useful from my own experience, I’ll share it. And I’ll be clear when I do, that this is not coaching!
By the way, if you know someone who should be receiving this newsletter then please feel free to share it with them. I’d love to have them in our community.
I know you’re busy, but if ever you get a moment to get in touch, and let me know your thoughts, and what you’d like me to cover, I’d love to hear from you.
